In Memory

Kay Yahn (Reith)

Kay Yahn (Reith)

Kay Yahn Reith passed away on October 12, 2020.  She had been living in the Sarasota, Florida area (in the Sun City Center unique community) for several years with her husband of 60 years, Bob Reith, who was also our classmate, and who passed away earlier in 2020.

Together, Kay and Bob raised two sons: Eric (of Minnesota) and Tom (of Arizona).  They had one granddaughter, Abigail, age 21 at the time of Kay's death.

Kay was devoted to her family.  She moved several times in the U.S., following of course her husband's golf career.  She served alongside Bob as a golf shop merchandiser when he went to work for the Galaxy Golf Corporation.

Kay loved bowling, tennis, biking, swimming, reading, knitting and decorating.  She grew to love establishing new homes and making new friends.

Friends in high school will recall that in our senior year Kay was a member of G.A.A., Surf Belles, Senior Chorus and Blue Tri.

You are invited to make a comment, below, about your memories of Kay, both while in high school, as well as how you may have known her as she moved with husband, Bob, around America as she supported him in his golfing efforts on the professional and senior golf tours.

Kay and I were friends in High School but drifted apart after she married. We had so many good times together. Singing in the car as we drove around, passing notes as we moved in the halls between classes, and several slumber parties. I'm glad that the memories have come back. It sounds as though she and Bobby had a very full life together...marrying at 20 and staying together for 60 years!

I wish I had known that they had settled in Sarasota, FL. I visit there often and would have loved to reconnect with Kay.  Now they are together forever, God bless them.

Been thinking about the Reith's and Kay's passing.  Appreciated the obituary about Kay and the example they set for with their 60 year marriage together and the relationship they had and supporting each other.  I had commented at Bob's passing my meeting him 25 years ago at the Burnett Senior League Classic and what a gentle kind spirit he had and was able enjoy a career in golf that he loved and how he and Kay shared their life together. I received the last letter from Kay on July 16th.  In the letter, she shared memories of our days at St. Louis Park High School. What fun we had during those carefree days.  Kay loved Florida and did not miss the north country with its snow and cold.  The loss of Bobby was difficult for her and she was trying her best to adjust to life without her partner.  I will miss her smile and laughter.  RIP my friend.
