Richard K. Woodbury, age 77 of Glenwood, MN died Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital.  A celebration of Richard's life was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Starbuck VFW, which was one of Richard's favorite places.

 

We have learned about Richard's life and his passing from his daughter Sandra Crapser.

Richard Kent Woodbury was the son of Raymond and Harriet (Dietz) Woodbury, and was born November 3, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, where he attended public school. After graduating from St. Louis Park High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the Twin Cities. There, he worked as a postal clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Minneapolis for over 33 years. Following his retirement, Richard and his wife, Laurie, moved to Glenwood, Minnesota.

 

Richard was living in Glenwood, MN on Lake Minnewaska since 2004.  Before that he resided in St. Louis Park for 38 yrs.  He was married to his first wife Greta Woodbury for 27 years; then she passed away in 1990.  They had 2 children -- Sandra and Ken.  He married Laurel Tyler in 1992 and thereby acquired 5 adult stepchildren.  He is survived by his wife Laurel, daughter Sandra Crapser (Darin), son Ken Woodbury, stepchildren Kathy & Doug Becht, Lynn & Rob Hoberg, John Tyler, Kelly & Brian Danielson, and Jim & Joann Tyler. In total, Richard had 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.  He was very involved with the Starbuck VFW.  He passed away due to the complications of diabetes.  

 

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Minnesota sports teams, and living on the lake. He was a member of the Starbuck VFW and the Woodpecker Hunting Club.

 

Richard is survived by his wife, Laurie Woodbury, of Glenwood; a daughter, Sandra (Darin) Crapser of Glenwood; a son, Ken Woodbury of Starbuck; step-children, Lynn (Robert) Hoberg, Kathryn (Doug) Becht, Jim (Joanne) Tyler, John Tyler, and Kelly (Brian) Danielson; 11 grandchildren, Alexandra, Ashley, Jessie, Sydney, Brady, John, Michael, Zachary, Whitney, Kaley, and Tyson; seven great-grandchildren, Brexley, Bennett, Colton, Bodhi, Ivy, Emma, and Jackson; a sister, Jan Fedora of Maple Grove; a nephew, Nicholas Rude; and a cousin, Ann Sullivan.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Harriet Woodbury, and his first wife, Greta Woodbury.
