Susan Lindquist (DeMers)

Susan Lindquist (DeMers)

Susan J. DeMers, née Lindquist Age 77, of Minnetonka, passed away suddenly on June 18, surrounded by family. She had apparently and very suddenly taken ill on June 15, 2018 and was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital, where she died a few days later, on June 18, 2018.

Sue was born on June 30, 1940. Preceded in death by parents John and Miriam Lindquist and sister Mary Boozell. Sue is the beloved mother of David (Cindy) Lien and Denise (Greg) Patterson and a loving grandmother to her 5 adoring grandchildren Megan (Ryan) Dall, Zach Lien, Tim, Gretchen and Annika Patterson and 2 great grandchildren Kyla and Jameson Lien. She was a big sister to Karen (Gene) Norling, Mary Boozell, John (Mary) Lindquist and Dean Dvorak. Sue was a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews and a dear friend to a long list of others. She had a very generous spirit and was a most loving, caring, sharing and thoughtful woman. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 14, 11 am at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 715 Minnetonka Mills Rd., Hopkins.

Susan Jane Lindquist was the beloved first daughter of John & Miriam Lindquist and was raised in St. Louis Park, MN and was the eldest of four siblings -- Karen, Mary, John and Dean.  She graduated with us in 1958, of course, and married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Lien, the older brother of our classmate Janet Lien Bardahl, in 1959.  She was blessed with a son, David, and daughter, Denise, and relocated to Illinois in the late 1960s.

While in Illinois, Sue worked for First Bank of Harvey, and then Price Waterhouse in downtown Chicago.  Moving back to Minnesota, she continued her career in the banking industry.  She became the Branch Manager at Riverside Bank, a great accomplishment for a woman in the 1970s.  After a full career, she retired ultimately from Wells Fargo in downtown Minneapolis, and moved to Minnetonka to be closer to Denise and her family.

Family meant the world to her!  She selflessly cared for her ailing parents, moving her mother into her condo, and regularyly visiting her dad, all without a driver's license.  She loved her children dearly, worked har to support them, and raised them with good values and lots of love.  Sue was a devoted mother to David & Cindy and Denise & Greg.  Her grandchildren Megan, Zach, Tim, Gretchen and Annika, and great-grandchildren Kyla & Jameson were her pride and joy!  Sue thought of them as precious gifts to be treasured, spoiled and loved.  She enjoyed spending time with her in-laws, nieces and nephews and they adoredd and appreciated her loving nature, great attitude, warm heart and the amazing food she regularly cooked for the family.

Sue loved all of her friends and took great pleasure in attending her monthly Book Club, Bunco gatherings, traveling and dining out together.  She especially cherished her weekend getaways with her sister and best friend, Karen.

Sue was my friend all through High School.  Sue had a beautiful smile, giggle and spirit. I would imagine she kept these qualities throughout her life and to Heaven.  I hoped to see Sue at our reunion this August. May she be well now and secure in the arms of God. He will  comfort her  family and friends mourning this sudden loss. Mary Reid Brooks
