Maraline Anthony (Keeling)

Maraline Anthony (Keeling)

Maraline J. Anthony Keeling, age 77 of Edina, has passed away.  She was preceded in death by her husband Leon and parents Charles "Buzz" and Jean Anthony. Maraline is survived by daughter Tracy, son Charles and daughter-in law Robin, granddaughter Kathryn Hunter (Ian), great-grandchildren Taelor and Kaela Hunter, sister Karen Hurlbert (Ron Holbach), brother-in-law Keith Keeling (Betty Koetz), sister-in-law Gertrude Keeling, nieces, nephews, and many friends.   She was loved by family and friends and will be sorely missed.

Maraline was raised in St. Louis Park, where she attended and was a shining star in our St. Louis Park High School graduating class of 1958.  There she was in the Spring Play in our junior year, in our Senior Class Play, a member of the Echowan staff during our senior year and a member of Blue Tri in grades 10, 11 and 12.

Maraline was a fifty-seven year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Past Matron of Acacia Chapter #272 and Lake Harriet Chapter #202, and Past Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Minnesota, and also a majority member and Past Honored Queen of Bethel #41 Job's Daughters.   The members of the Order of the Eastern Star are dedicated women and men who sincerely reflect the spirit of fraternal love and the desire to work together for good. It gives them the opportunity to give a part of their time to many projects that benefit mankind.  Their lessons are scriptural, their purposes are beneficent, and their teachings are moral. Job's Daughters International is a Masonic affiliated youth organization for girls and young women aged 10 to 20. The organization is commonly referred to as simply Job's Daughters, and sometimes abbreviated as JDI. Job's Daughters welcomes many religions and cultures. The only religious standard is a belief in a Supreme being. They are praised for their memory work and delivery.  This was obviously a continuation in adult life of Maraline's exceptional high school acting experience in our class plays.  This brief mission statement about Jobs Daughers tells us that when we were in the presence of Maraline in high school, we were in the presence of someone of whom we had little knowledge of what a beautiful, wonderful human being she was, and so dedicated to the advancement of all that is good about the human race and dedicated as well to the advancement and perfection of young women.

The Order of the Eastern Star is a Masonic appendant body open to both men and women. It was established in 1850 by lawyer and educator Rob Morris, a noted Freemason, but was only adopted and approved as an appendant body of the Masonic Fraternity in 1873. The order is based on teachings from the Bible, but is open to people of all religious beliefs. It has approximately 10,000 chapters in twenty countries and approximately 500,000 members under its General Grand Chapter.
