James Robinson

James Robinson

James Paul Robinson of Crystal, Minnesota passed away in the hospital on July 30, 2022, with his family at his side, at the age of 81 from complications related to ongoing infections. He was born on December 21, 1940 in Faribault, Minnesota. He grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. James graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1958. He received his Associate’s Degree from Northwestern Electronics Institute and worked as a machinist. James enjoyed canoeing, reading, camping, traveling, woodworking, and leatherworking.

James is preceded in death by his parents, George Wesley Robinson, Sr. and Marie Katherine (nee Nielsen) Reisewitz; three siblings, George, Charles, L. Joyce M. (married Edward Haggen); nephews, Douglas and Craig Haggen. He is survived by his wife Verna Wilcox (Robinson); daughters, Alexandra (Mark) Bronstad, Anastasia (Rusty) St. Clair; grandchildren, Tut Nikolas Wilson and Suzanne Elizabeth Wilson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jim was always interested in science, and was a stalwart member of our St. Louis Park High's Science Club in our junior and senior years.  It was this interest that propelled Jim to go to the Northwestern Electronics Institute from 1969-71, from which he graduated at the top of his class.  After graduation, he started working as an electronic technician.

Jim and Verna did a lot of traveling in their travel trailer, which they towed behind their car.  Their trips with their young daughters took them out east to Washington D.C. and out west to Utah.  They also went on many canoe trips in Minnesota and joined the Minnesota Canoe Association.  These trips with their daughters were tent camping adventures.

Jim took an early retirement offer from Rosemount, Inc. in 1992 and has therefore been retired for 30 years!

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 2801 Douglas Drive North, Crystal, MN 55427 on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022 at 11am. Luncheon will follow the memorial service at the church.

Sad to lose James "Skinny" Robinson.  We were friends in high school and reconnected at the last few reunions.  Just got my last of many memes and jokes from him a few days ago...

My condolences to Verna and the rest of the family.
