Janet Hector (Walsh)

Jan spent early years in Hudson, Wisconsin until her mother's death.  Her father felt it best that she be "mothered" in his brother's family in St. Louis Park for a more normal upbringing.  Soon after completing her education in the SLP system, Jan married Thomas A. Walsh.  Two children born during the first two years of marriage prevented her from using the LPN license for which she had trained.  After the family had moved to Rochester, Minnesota, a third child was born.  Jan's husband established a business in a local mall.  Jan soon followed with a shop of her own, which specialized in baking equipment.  Business was good, as Jan had acquired a rosy reputation in cake decorating by virtue of radio and TV programs.  Unfortunately, this all ended including her marriage.  Jan returned to the metro area and earned a comfortable living as a decorating consultant with Dayton's home store while spending off moments sailing, traveling, etc.
